OFFICE OF THE DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLOR (ACADEMIC)

The Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) ensures effective and efficient academic staff development as well as ensuring effective academic development of students. It also coordinates the activities of the Examination and Time Table Committee and ensures that the time table is strictly followed. The Deputy Vice Chancellor’s Office also receives petitions on all academic matters for appropriate action, either from students or academic staff. The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) is typically the Chairman of the University Admissions Committee (UAC). The UAC ensures that the criteria laid down for the admission of students into university is strictly followed. Furthermore, it is also the responsibility of this Office to ensure the smooth conduct of Post-UTME examinations.

The Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) also coordinates the Academic Planning Sub-committee and the Academic Planning Unit of the University as regards curriculum development. This is done by ensuring frequent updates in line with recent technology and current trends. This Office also ensures that all academic programmes in the University are accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and other relevant academic bodies. The University Accreditation Committee (UAC) Chairman is typically the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic).

In order to ensure the quality of academic delivery in the University, this Office ensures that all academic staff make efforts to update their knowledge in line with current trends and technology through conference support.

Put succinctly, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for all academic matters such as: academic administration, curriculum development, examinations, admissions and other senate matters.
